Other Facebook users, however, had kinder words; one said the sculpture 'does befit the memory of our late monarch.' Another lamented the scrutiny that had fallen on the statue.
The Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, which commissioned the statue, turned off comments on a Facebook post, highlighting that it aimed to capture 'Her Majesty in a dignified pose.'
