Test cricket is poised for the introduction of a dedicated fund as the International Cricket Council looks to boost match fees and stem the talent drain to lucrative franchise leagues.
The fund would introduce a minimum Test match fee of $US10,000 for players, helping national boards who currently struggle to match wages on offer in T20 competitions.
Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, has publicly declared support for a fund to offset costs incurred by poorer boards hosting Test cricket.
Richard Gould noted that next year the England and Wales Cricket Board would introduce a touring fee for Zimbabwe's visit, marking a change in financial support for touring teams.
