The majority of UK adults believe that the police responded well to the civil unrest situation, with 64% expressing confidence in their management of the incidents. Additionally, while half rated Prime Minister Starmer positively for his handling of the unrest, a notable 38% disagreed, indicating a divided public opinion.
A significant portion of the public (82%) holds demonstrators accountable for the chaos erupting during the protests. The perception extends to far-right organizations and social media companies as major contributors, showcasing a widespread belief that various socio-political factors influenced the unrest.
Chris Hopkins, Political Research Director at Savanta, noted the importance of measuring public sentiment following such events. He stated, "Now that the dust appears to have settled, it is a good time to get a proper gauge of what the public think of who was responsible for the civil unrest that swept through the UK this summer."
