Great Ormond Street Hospital is urgently reviewing 721 cases related to a former consultant orthopaedic surgeon, Yaser Jabbar, after serious concerns over patient treatment were raised.
Initial findings by the Royal College of Surgeons indicate unacceptable practices, including botched surgeries and severe harm to children, potentially leading to lifelong injuries.
Caroline Murgatroyd of Hudgell Solicitors expressed alarm over the reported failures in clinical decision-making, patient assessments, and lack of proper communication with families about treatments.
The review highlights critical issues in the treatment of children, noting that 22 out of 37 reviewed cases resulted in some degree of harm, with 13 marked as severe.
