The FCC has announced a ban on consumer-grade routers made outside the US, following a directive from President Trump aimed at reducing foreign technology use for national security. New models from foreign manufacturers will not be approved unless they receive conditional approval from the Department of Defense or Homeland Security. Existing routers can still be sold and used. Router makers must justify foreign production and provide plans to expand US manufacturing to seek exemptions.
