Famous Winston Churchill portrait stolen from a Canada hotel is found in Italy after two-year hunt

The Roaring Lion, the famous portrait of Winston Churchill, was stolen from a hotel in Ottawa and has recently been located in Italy after two years.

Authorities revealed the stolen Churchill portrait had been unknowingly sold to an Italian buyer through a London auction house before the theft was reported.

A fake portrait had been displayed in place of The Roaring Lion for eight months, highlighting how the theft remained undetected until alerted by hotel staff.

A 43-year-old suspect from Ontario has been arrested in connection with the theft, facing multiple charges including theft and trafficking in stolen property.
