Commissioner Johansson indicated the systems are nearly ready, highlighting that there is strong momentum and commitment from carriers and operators in anticipation of the EES rollout.
The EES will enable precise tracking of who enters the Schengen area, helping to deter irregular migration and combat passport fraud by utilizing biometric identification.
With over 700 million tourists visiting Europe annually, the EES and ETIAS will bolster security, ensuring that over 450 million Europeans travel safely within the region.
