Corruption review finds 'red flags' in more than 130 Covid contracts
Briefly

Transparency International UK’s analysis reveals that during the Covid pandemic, significant corruption risks were present in £15.3 billion worth of government contracts, raising urgent concerns.
The charity identified 135 high-risk contracts with three or more red flags, including 28 contracts worth £4.1 billion awarded to firms with known political ties.
Suspension of normal safeguards during the pandemic process was often unjustified; this decision cost the public billions and significantly eroded trust in government.
With almost two-thirds of contracts totaling £30.7 billion lacking competition, the mechanisms meant to prevent corruption were alarmingly disregarded, demanding significant investigations.
