Claude Wehrle, the former head of Arconic's technical sales support, claimed he was not responsible for the sales decisions leading to the Grenfell disaster, distancing himself from the tragedy.
The inquiry found Wehrle had been dishonest about the safety of Reynobond PE cladding, and he noted in a 2010 email that its box shape wouldn't meet fire safety standards but kept it 'VERY CONFIDENTIAL'.
Wehrle faced criticism for refusing to testify before the inquiry in person, citing French law, which an inquiry report condemned as prioritizing legal requirements over the interests of victims.
Despite acknowledging the traumatic impact of the Grenfell Tower disaster, Wehrle maintains he wasn't responsible for the cladding decisions, suggesting higher-ups were more knowledgeable.
