Catholic representative body says it is 'deeply sorry' as report reveals scale of abuse allegations at over 300 religious-run schools

The Government-ordered inquiry has revealed almost 2,400 allegations of historical sexual abuse were recorded by 308 schools run by religious orders across Ireland.

Education Minister Norma Foley today described the scale of the allegations of historical sexual abuse in religious schools as 'truly shocking'.

We acknowledge the courage and bravery of the victims and survivors. We are deeply sorry that they experienced abuse in religious-run schools.

AMRI actively worked with those of its members who are involved in running schools to facilitate the fullest cooperation in this Inquiry.
