A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of Fr Murphy, while gardaí investigate potential links to terrorism and comments made at the scene.
Defence Forces members had to use appropriate force, including firing warning shots, to protect Fr Murphy during the incident at Renmore Barracks.
