VPNSecure, a VPN provider recently acquired, has faced backlash after discontinuing lifetime subscriptions without honoring past purchases. New owners claimed ignorance of these subscriptions, stating they were only discovered post-acquisition. In response to customer complaints, the company announced deactivation of lifetime accounts as of April 28, 2025, citing resource strains from maintaining these accounts. Affected users were offered heavily discounted new subscriptions, valid until May 31, in an attempt to mitigate dissatisfaction after significant operational challenges.
VPNSecureâs new owners announced the deactivation of lifetime subscriptions due to financial strains and undisclosed liabilities from the previous ownership, offering discounted new subscription rates instead.
A spokesperson from the VPN provider stated, 'The previous owner did not disclose that thousands of Lifetime Deals... caused strain on our resources and high support volume from users.'
Users reported receiving an email stating, 'Unfortunately, the previous owner did not disclose that... we discovered this only months later... a large portion of our resources were strained.'
To compensate for the cancellation, VPNSecure is providing discounted new subscription options until May 31, with rates significantly lower than standard prices.
