U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada emphasized the role of Thola-Duran and co-defendants, stating they acted as facilitators for South American crime tourists, referring to them as 'quarterbacks for a team of thieves.'
The indictment states that from 2018 to 2024, the accused helped organize approximately 120 burglaries and thefts across 80 cities, resulting in losses well north of $35 million.
Prosecutors described Thola-Duran's automotive business, Driver Power Rentals, as catering solely to criminals, indicating its role in facilitating crime.
