Shoofly Vegan Bakery Employees Locked Out After Disputes With New Owner
Briefly

After facing late paychecks for the second consecutive payroll cycle, employees at Shoofly Bakery in Southeast Portland initiated a work stoppage, resulting in the establishment's closure. The bakery, known for its vegan offerings, recently transitioned ownership, leading to complaints regarding the lack of communication about the payroll issues. The new owner, Tien Vominh, acknowledged being an absentee owner with limited involvement but cited potential processing delays as the cause of the payment issues. A labor complaint has been filed with Oregon's Bureau of Labor and Industries regarding these pay discrepancies.
This is the second pay period in a row where employee paychecks were going to be late and we were not being told why they were late.
I have a general manager and I'm an absentee owner. The staff is in place. I kept the same staff as before.
