On March 8th, Ocean Beach transformed with a unique communal sand art event led by Andrés Amador, attracting many participants who created intricate geometric designs in the sand. The artworks conveyed messages of kindness amidst a beach atmosphere filled with joy and creativity. Young helpers like KaviAmador showcased a maturity that contrasted with local tech culture. Amador himself is a San Francisco resident with a background in environmental science, who turned to art after disillusionment with his tech job, reflecting a blend of creativity and social connection in the community's spirit.
The vibe last Saturday was crop circle. A mass of people congregated on the beach with rakes in hand, creating some of the best and most organized sand art I've ever seen.
As I walked down to the beach I was greeted by a 10-year-old with the presence of an established 40-somethings man - a level of maturity that I have yet to see in the tech bro culture that runs this city.
Amador is the prototype of the San Franciscan hippie who begrudgingly dabbled in tech - just enough to know he despises it.
At the IT department of a national bank, he was hating every second of it while getting into the Burning Man scene.
