Fertile Ground: Homegrown plays, west of the hills * Oregon ArtsWatch
Briefly

The Fertile Ground Festival of New Works is making strides in showcasing local talent in Washington County, particularly through West Side theaters. With a renewed focus on neighborhood hubs, the festival, which runs from April 4 to April 19, has facilitated an increase in productions of original plays written by local playwrights. New artistic directors in Beaverton and Hillsboro are playing a key role in this revitalization. The festival Director, Tamara Carroll, emphasizes the festival’s goal of expanding its reach beyond just Portland, welcoming companies from surrounding regions to participate and contribute.
We have member companies in Hillsboro, Sherwood, Vancouver - and all of these companies or individual members should be able to access PATA programs, including Fertile Ground.
Thanks to the recent arrival of several new and energetic West Side artistic directors, West Side companies have accepted the invitation to produce homegrown plays.
