The addition of a pop-up skating rink in downtown Portland by Prosper Portland and Ice-America attracted 18,000 visitors last winter, showing strong community interest in ice skating.
Amanda Park highlighted that the original 1970s design for the World Trade Center included a rink, though it was omitted in the final construction, demonstrating a long-standing community desire for such facilities.
The ice rink is set to return earlier this year, from November 16 through January 5, promising to become a new Portland tradition along with food carts and local partnerships.
Prosper Portland's initiative to establish a seasonal outdoor ice rink not only provides recreational opportunities but also supports local businesses and creates temporary jobs in the community.
