Stage & Studio: The Mycelium Dreams threads of Linda K. Johnson * Oregon ArtsWatch
Briefly

Linda K. Johnson is a prominent dancer and educator, known for immersive and site-specific performances over the past 40 years. Her innovative projects include enlisting dancers as gardeners for a Portland community initiative and a residency project in South Waterfront aimed at enriching the local arts scene. Currently, she is launching the Mycelium Dreams Project, which focuses on documenting the histories of veteran dancers and artists, placing importance on their narratives. Public conversations as part of the project will commence on January 26, emphasizing the value of artist-driven storytelling and archiving.
Dance has again died at PSU and I'm very sad that over the last eight years since I've been there (again) that there was never the leadership inside the department of fine arts to make sure that dance existed.
The Mycelium Dreams Project is archival in intention, committed to foregrounding the voice of the dance artist or professional in remembering, telling, revealing, and mapping their own history.
Linda’s memorable projects, like her 2005 in-situ performance, demonstrate her commitment to blending arts with community engagement and creating meaningful connections through dance.
Bringing artists of varied disciplines together has been a hallmark of Linda's career, allowing for rich collaborations that transcend traditional boundaries in the arts.
