The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office is facing another lawsuit for civil rights violations after deputies made two Muslim women remove their hijabs at a pro-Palestine demonstration in 2024. The women requested a female deputy but were denied. Additionally, despite a ban on fireworks in Portland since 2022, the police received around 4,000 reports related to fireworks usage over the long weekend. These reports will help the police identify areas needing increased patrol next year.
