Jose 'Nacho' Barbero faced allegations of using real-time assistance software during an online poker tournament, which he denied, claiming it was open for coaching purposes. The controversy arose when a screenshot showed the program running while he played. Barbero stated he was coaching other players and is willing to provide evidence. While poker site ACR initially supported him, they later acknowledged the need for a serious investigation. A subsequent investigation confirmed he did not use the software during play, alleviating concerns about any unfair advantage.
I was coaching four of my horses on a Discord call. I don't play online. They don't have the GTO Wizard Pro, so I was looking at some spots for them. My bad.
Poker responded on Jan. 31 that Barbero is a goofball and we love him. Anyone who's played with, against or around him knows he's not a -style player and likely never will be.
Following a thorough internal investigation of all hands played in the tournaments Nacho participated in, we have concluded that at no point did he use real-time assistance to aid his or any other player's decision-making during live hands.
We sincerely apologize for this. The site planned to investigate the issue both internally and externally, and work with Wizard to address the issue.
