"The new rules introduce a concept of 'user safety features' which include safeguards like age-verification, time restrictions, and parental controls, tailored to the game's risk profile."

New rules for the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act will take effect on May 1, 2026. These rules create an online gaming authority and a regulation-light framework, eliminating mandatory registration for most social games. User safety features, including age verification and parental controls, are required. A determination test will classify online games, particularly to identify those that are banned as online money games. This classification will be completed within 90 days of application or notice.
