A Texas woman, who won $83.5 million in a lottery, is facing uncertainty over her payout as authorities investigate the lottery app Jackpocket she used to purchase her tickets. Lawmakers are pushing for a ban on such courier services, claiming they operate illegally. The Texas Lottery Commission stated that these services are against the law. Despite presenting her winning ticket, the woman has yet to receive her winnings, stirring a debate about the legality of the app and the integrity of her win, while her attorney asserts that she followed the rules.
"I'm being treated as the bad guy," the woman told Nexstar.
"Sometimes there are reasons to investigate things, but I don't think mine is one of them," the woman said.
"We played by all the rules, and we're still playing by all the rules and we expect that my client should be paid," Howry said.
The Texas Lottery Commission (TLC) said in a statement after the woman's win that lottery courier services are illegal in Texas.
