Doug Polk's management of the Lodge Poker Club has led to mixed opinions about his participation in tournaments. Nearly 30% of respondents believe it looks unethical.
Polk raised concerns over potential bias, stating, "Crazy to me that 3 out of 10 people think it's a bad look for me to play tournaments at [my cardroom]."
Executive Tour Director Matt Savage emphasized ethical concerns in situations where guarantees are missed, stating, "It's bad...only if you are missing the guarantee and entering...for what appears [to be] for free."
Tony Burns, Moneymaker Tour Executive Director, expressed that, "Playing in tournaments could make other players believe there could be biased rulings…that could benefit the club owner."
