Two award programs for Spanish podcasts
The Spotify Podcast Awards in Mexico are held in Mexico City in their second year. The program honors creators whose voices help shape the cultural conversation across Mexico in Latin America. Fan-powered voting involved more than a million participants and nearly eight million votes. The top winner, called “Top of the Tops Podcast,” was La Cotorrisa, launched in 2019 and hosted by two Mexican stand-up comedians who read funny listener-submitted anecdotes called “cotorros.” The 2026 Latin Podcast Awards will mark their 10th anniversary in Miami in October, with submissions open to Latin and non-Latin creators. Category winners receive a “Microphone Statue” trophy, and final nominees include podcasts from the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Spain, Costa Rica, and Colombia.
"La Cotorrisa launched in 2019 and is hosted by two Mexican stand-up comedians. (They read funny anecdotes submitted by listeners, whom they call “cotorros”.) The final nominees include: Filmic Notion Podcast (Puerto Rico) - TV & Film by Gerardo E. Alemán Rivera; Historiografìa Mexicana (México) - History by Pedro César Beas; and Susurros Podcast (Costa Rica) - Fiction by Bobby Chavarría and Waldin Badilla."
