Spotify is introducing personal podcast creation powered by AI, generating podcasts from an idea or custom prompt and saving them to a user’s library. Users will be able to create daily or weekly briefs for recurring interests and one-off podcasts to learn about specific topics. Requests can include preferences such as local concerts from favorite artists or explanations of subjects in a set time. Users can add links, PDFs, and text, and select a custom voice for the generated audio. Spotify is also rolling out an AI-powered Q&A for Premium mobile users to ask questions about episodes or concepts and request recommendations. A desktop Studio app can connect to email and calendar to produce personalized briefings.
"Spotify has been a place to consume podcasts made by other creators. The company wants to change that by introducing a personal podcast feature, which uses AI to generate podcasts for users based on an idea or a custom prompt."
"Users can make a request like "Share my daily city updates, and tell me about local concerts from artists I love," or "Help me understand economics in five minutes," to create a podcast and have it saved to the library for personal consumption. What's more, users can add links, PDFs, and text, and choose a custom voice to generate podcasts."
