Amazon's Wondery is introducing a toy line tied to the kid podcast "Wow in the World," marking the first toy line based on a podcast.
The toys are priced from $14.95 to $29.95 and will be available in stores like Barnes & Noble and Nordstrom, indicating a broader consumer product strategy.
Nicole Blake, who developed the Harry Potter franchise, emphasizes a Hollywood-style approach to building franchises around their podcasts, focusing on engaging consumers across multiple formats.
Blake noted that if every medium can create fandoms that lead to franchises, audio should be able to do the same, thus expanding Wondery’s portfolio.
