Even if Johnson no longer wanted to play for the Steelers, they still probably could have gotten a higher draft pick. But, when a draft class is deep at the position the player being traded away plays the return is going to be much lower.
It makes far more sense for them to draft a receiver in this draft let him serve as an understudy to Higgins. Then let Higgins play out the 2024 season on the non-exclus.
