Renowned artist Ronald McDowell creates mural honoring Pittsburg's past, present and future
Briefly

Ronald S. McDowell, an accomplished artist known for his work with celebrities and civil rights icons, is creating a mural in Pittsburg, California, to honor the city's leaders. After over 30 years of being misidentified as originating from Alabama, he wants his hometown to recognize his legacy. Inspired by childhood friend Willie Moffett Jr., McDowell's mural 'A Time to Heal - Past, Present, and Future' reflects community resilience and has been in progress since 2022 due to weather challenges. McDowell's goal is to have his artwork well-represented in his hometown so that he is remembered for his local roots.
"I want a lot of (my artwork) here in Pittsburg so people can say he's not from Birmingham, said McDowell. He's from Pittsburg, California!"
"I knew I wouldn't have nobody else do this project. This man is a jewel. He has the gift from God because when he touches something with paint, he brings it to life."
