Colts' Alec Pierce missing offseason workouts after ankle surgery
""I knew he was hurting at times last year. So, finally, after consulting with multiple doctors and him, he had a cleanup done. ... We don't expect any long-term implications here.""
""It just came down to, it got to where he was really having maintenance a lot last year and the pain. So he had to kind of fight through that.""
Alec Pierce had surgery to address nagging ankle pain that affected him last season. General manager Chris Ballard stated that the decision for surgery was made to ensure Pierce's recovery before the upcoming season. The recovery time is estimated at three months. Pierce had a successful last season, finishing with a league-high 21.3 yards per catch and 1,003 receiving yards. The Colts are prioritizing his availability for the season, especially after trading veteran receiver Michael Pittman Jr. to the Steelers.
