"I came out here and I found the Coco in my garden. It had got my fence caught up in its wheel. It uprooted a whole bunch of [plants] in my garden and then just drove away with the fence attached to it."
"I chased after it and looked like a total crazy person, running after a robot in the middle of the street and yelling at it. I was trying to block it and get in its way and it would try to go around me."
"The delivery robots have caused a number of problems wherever they've been deployed. In Chicago, the little fellas irked residents so bad that they've been functionally banned from certain sections of the city."
Autonomous delivery robots, particularly Cocos, are creating problems in neighborhoods throughout the United States. In East Hollywood, a Coco robot became tangled in a resident's fence, uprooted plants, and dragged the fence away while continuing its delivery route. The robot ignored the homeowner's attempts to stop it. Similar incidents have occurred elsewhere, with delivery robots colliding with ambulances, blocking mobility scooters, and knocking over motorcycles. These issues have prompted some cities, including Chicago, to functionally ban delivery robots from certain areas. Residents express concern about companies deploying this technology in communities without adequate oversight or accountability.
