Spanish police have dismantled an online gang that defrauded prospective pet buyers by falsely advertising puppies and other pets for sale. Operating primarily in the Basque province of Biscay, the scammers tricked victims into paying for imaginary dogs and additional expenses like vet bills. They also extended their deceit to mobile phone sales. The operation resulted in the identification of 100 victims who collectively lost over 150,000. Six individuals have been arrested, and police have frozen 14 bank accounts, emphasizing the seriousness of this growing trend in online fraud.
