Stacy Zimmer, a 48-year-old Long Island resident, faces multiple misdemeanor animal cruelty charges after authorities discovered unsanitary living conditions in her Brentwood home. Detectives were overwhelmed by the stench of feces, urine, and rot upon entering the premises. The investigation unveiled not only the neglected pit bulls, who were found in filthy conditions but also drug paraphernalia and crack cocaine. Fortunately, the dogs, although unkempt, were in decent health and will be available for adoption, while Zimmer awaits her court appearance in March.
Detectives noted that the stench of feces, urine, and rot was overpowering, causing them to cough and gag as they entered the home, highlighting the severe neglect.
The SPCA reported that despite the horrific conditions, the two pit bulls were not malnourished and were in decent shape, only requiring grooming and nail clipping.
