Brooklyn woman who sued neighbor for dognapping reunited with beloved pet
""[Wednesday] was a long day at court, but I always had faith I would get her back. Lots of friends were very supportive, but to actually have it happen, I don't even have the word for it. It really made me have hope in life again. Finally, I got something that was really healing and terrific.""
""This woman said to me, 'You said we're keeping her.' I said, 'No, my words that day were you're keeping her until I'm better.'""
Valerie D'Angelo was reunited with her dog Grace after a Brooklyn Supreme Court ruling granted her full possession. The neighbor, Catherine Feijoo-Nickell, had agreed to dog-sit while D'Angelo dealt with Crohn's disease but later refused to return the dog. D'Angelo expressed her relief and gratitude, stating the return of Grace restored her hope. D'Angelo adopted Grace in 2018 to cope with the loss of her son and had to seek help when her health declined.
