Bogs and dogs: Chelsea flower show puts practical gardens in spotlight
Briefly

The Chelsea Flower Show, now in its 112th year, showcases not only traditional beauty but also practical gardening solutions. The 'Garden of the Future' includes a biochar compost toilet, which transforms waste into usable plant substrate. Solar panels power essential irrigation systems in light of rising temperatures and drought problems in the UK. Exhibitor Lucy Hutchings explores drought-friendly crops, adapting to worsening climate conditions. The show represents a shift towards sustainable and functional gardening practices that respond to today's environmental challenges.

His garden also prominently features a ground-mounted solar panel, which powers an irrigation pump. This year has been very hot and sunny, with areas of the UK experiencing early stages of drought, making irrigation especially important.
