According to Dogs Trust, between 2019 and 2024, the number of calls from owners needing to surrender dogs due to non-pet-friendly accommodations surged by 112%. A survey indicated that only 7% of rental properties in Ireland allow pets. This motion, supported by fellow councillors, will be sent to Housing Minister James Browne seeking legislative change.
