Parisian Designer Pauline Leprince to Make NYC Debut
"My design work is quite radical, so I really love to work on objects or objects that are really big and explosive...with also some code of the past, which is really important for me. Conceived as points of tension between the individual and society, these objects probe what lies beyond appearances or what lies beneath the surface."
"I wanted to work with these two materials as if they were different worlds or like different countries fighting. Through her designs she confronts difficult topics and remnants of the past, using tempered glass and metals as dialogue between contrasting elements that represent conflicting forces and historical tensions."
Pauline Leprince transitioned from theater to interior design and architecture after the COVID-19 pandemic, establishing herself through her futuristic aesthetic and radical design approach. Her 2024 redesign of Karl Lagerfeld's Rue des Saints-Père home showcased her signature use of tempered glass and metal. Leprince is expanding into the New York design scene with an exhibition titled "Beneath the Surface" at Kaia Editions' showroom, featuring three minimalist pieces: a console, mirror, and lamp. Her work deliberately confronts difficult topics and historical remnants, using contrasting materials to represent conflicting worlds. She studied at France's École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and draws inspiration from industrial design traditions.
