Romain Bardet, the French cyclist and Picnic-PostNL rider, is racing for the final time at the Critérium du Dauphiné after a distinguished 14-year career. Returning to his hometown of Brioude in Auvergne, he received a tribute at the start of stage 3 while local schoolchildren were given the day off to witness his last performance. Completing the stage in the peloton, Bardet recalled significant milestones from his career, expressing how meaningful it is to end where it all began for him. The race continues with challenging terrain that suits his skills.
It's a great moment, we couldn't have dreamed of a better time for my last race, here, where I grew up and where it all began.
I have a lot of memories here, the 2007 Tour de l'Avenir when I was here at school, my first big race with Paris-Nice 2013.
