In Landerneau, a small town in western France, over 3,000 individuals dressed as smurfs gathered to break the world record for the largest assembled group in costumes. The event surpassed the previous record of 2,762 held by a German town, bringing together 3,076 participants. The gathering was not just about achieving a record; it fostered community spirit and fun, with many attendees expressing their desire to create a joyful atmosphere amid challenging times. The event marked a triumphant moment for Landerneau after previous attempts were thwarted by weather and technical issues.
"We smurfed the record," said one participant. Landerneau finally assembled 3,076 smurfs, surpassing Lauchringen's previous record of 2,762, bringing joy and community spirit to the town.
Pascal Soun, head of the association, said the gathering "allows people to have fun and enter an imaginary world for a few hours," showcasing the allure of the Smurf franchise.
