Everything you need to know about running the 2026 Paris marathon
"The 2026 Paris Marathon route will be the same as last year. Indeed it's stayed the same since it was last changed in 2023. That change saw an alteration to the end of the route which made it more interesting."
"Traditionally the last few punishing kilometres were mostly through the Bois de Boulogne woods on the western edge of Paris. Whilst it's a nice place to run through, anyone who has done the Paris marathon will know that last slog has felt a bit like a death march because of the lack of crowds and atmosphere."
"As a result runners can take in even more famous sites at the end of the race such as Le Trocadéro and Place Victor Hugo before heading to Porte Dauphine and the traditional finish line on Avenue Foch, within sight of the Arc de Triomphe."
The Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris will take place on April 12th, with 60,000 participants expected. The route remains unchanged from 2023, featuring a new finish line in the 16th arrondissement, enhancing crowd support. Runners will experience a scenic course through central Paris, passing landmarks like Bastille and the Seine. The new route is slightly hillier but offers a more engaging atmosphere towards the end. Participants should prepare for potential long queues to collect their race numbers.
