Holly Queiroz, previously conjoined to her twin Carly, has reunited with her surgeons 40 years after a landmark operation separated them. The surgery, conducted in 1985 at Great Ormond Street Hospital, was pivotal in saving Holly's life, although her twin Carly unfortunately passed away shortly afterward. Living in Texas, Holly stayed in touch with one of the surgeons, Professor Lewis Spitz, and marked her upcoming 40th birthday with a video call reunion, revealing the lasting bond and gratitude she feels towards the medical team that transformed her life.
Forty years on, a woman separated from her conjoined twin in a groundbreaking surgery has reunited with the doctors who made her life possible.
Now known as Holly Queiroz and living in Texas in the United States, she has maintained contact with Professor Spitz over the years.
The separation was successful, Carly died of heart complications six weeks later. Holly had 10 subsequent operations and a year-long stay at Great Ormond.
In a heartwarming reunion ahead of her 40th birthday, Ms Queiroz reconnected with both Professor Spitz and Mr Kiely via video call.
