What Are "Room Parties"? One Woman Recalls Her Parents Unique Idea
Briefly

Hannah Koumakis, a TikTok creator, reminisces about her childhood "room parties," a unique family tradition where selected rooms would host surprise gatherings. During these events, dinner was served on picnic rugs, and games were played, creating decor and joy. The anticipation of having one's room chosen added a sense of honor. Koumakis emphasizes the special bonding experience these parties provided, contrasting with typical family nights in common areas. The nostalgic recount sparked engagement from viewers, many sharing their appreciation for the creativity of Koumakis's mother.
When I was younger, my parents used to do something called a room party where essentially if your room got chosen, we would have a party in your room.
We used to do heaps of family nights ... and this was the best thing ever. We honestly loved it so much, and you so badly wanted your room to be picked.
So what mom would do, is she would all have us go to bed really early and then she would come in and get you. If she came and got you, you knew that obviously your room wasn't chosen.
