To Doula or Not to Doula?
Briefly

Doulas are gaining popularity as many pregnant women quest for support during pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. Doulas provide physical and emotional assistance, advocate for mothers, and facilitate communication with healthcare providers. They are particularly valued for their availability to address concerns when medical professionals may be inaccessible. While the percentage of pregnant women using doulas remains under 10%, the growing awareness and appreciation for their role is prompting more inquiries into their services, reflecting trends seen on social media.
A review of 16 studies published in Cureus agreed that doula support seems to increase the chance of a successful delivery and shorten labor.
Some studies have found that doula support can increase the chance of successful breastfeeding, including earlier and longer lactation.
