My Nephew Behaved Appallingly on Our Disney "Date." My Sister's Reaction Was Almost Worse.
"My family lives a little over an hour from Disneyland, and my sister "Leah" was supposed to take her 8-year-old son "Curt" there last Saturday. Unfortunately, Leah and my brother-in-law came down with a serious case of food poisoning the day before. She called me up and begged me to take Curt for them. Curt can be a complete dick much of the time, and I was hesitant, but decided to do it anyway."
"Dear Done, Things were going well through the afternoon. But then, while we were waiting in line for one of the rides, a little girl who looked to be around 6 ran over and gave him a hug (the child appeared to have Down syndrome and didn't know better). She also had chocolate all over her hands. My nephew responded by shoving her so hard she fell down, while calling her a slur. I was mortified and took him home immediately."
A relative agreed to take an eight-year-old nephew to Disneyland after the parents became ill. While waiting in line, the nephew shoved a roughly six-year-old girl who appeared to have Down syndrome, covered in chocolate, and called her a slur. The guardian was mortified and immediately took the nephew home. The boy's mother reacted by demanding reimbursement for the wasted tickets and threatened small claims court, while the guardian's mother urged payment to avoid family conflict. Removing the child taught consequences and prioritized others' safety, and demanding reimbursement was unreasonable.
