A mother threatened to throw her daughter's iPad during a car argument; the daughter called her bluff and the mother tossed the device out the window. The mother later found the iPad on the roadside with a large crack. The device had been given before school as a reward for improved behavior amid ongoing listening issues. The daughter wanted to leave the car to retrieve the iPad but stayed for school and later told classmates that her mother had thrown it out. Public responses ranged from criticism to support.
