Meath refuge centre helping repair lives of children after domestic abuse
Briefly

Now, a study on the performance of "Where I'm At" has recommended that every domestic abuse refuge in Ireland should have a full-time children's support worker.
Meath Women's Refuge and Support Services (MWRSS) is one of the only networks of shelters in the country understood to have dedicated children's support workers.
The report said that in 2022, MWRSS helped 57 women and 74 children, a total of 131 individuals - an 11% increase from the previous year. But because of limits to its capacity, the refuge service was unable to accommodate 300 women and 184 children in 2022, an 11% increase in unmet requests compared to 2021.
