My child, who like most preschoolers asks direct questions, has been asking if I miss him. The first time she asked, I was unprepared.
I'm also afraid of being callous about the fact that, no, I don't miss him now and I won't miss him when he eventually dies. It feels like way too much to tell a child this young.
