The author shares their family's love for travel, which persisted even after having kids. They fondly recount memorable trips, including a backcountry camping experience in Glacier National Park. As their children grew and developed their own travel preferences, the family adopted a creative approach to planning vacations by allowing the kids to suggest destinations through a fun drawing method. This innovative strategy has led to unique adventures, such as snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef and learning to surf in Australia.
We introduced a fun tradition to let them have a say: writing down destinations on chits and drawing a winner from a fishbowl.
Some of my most vivid memories are of backcountry camping in Glacier National Park, hiking 11 miles to Sperry Chalet with my son in a BabyBjörn carrier.
