Matt Sibanda, an 18-year-old originally from Zimbabwe, tragically drowned while trying to retrieve a football at Lough Swilly, alongside his friend Emmanuel Familola, 16, from Nigeria. Both teens were living in Buncrana under international protection. At Matt's funeral, parish priest Father Francis Bradley emphasized the profound loss felt by the community and their grieving families. Matt was described as wise beyond his years and known for his warm and respectful nature, leaving a significant impact on those around him despite his young age. The community continues to grapple with the tragedy.
