That was my home': faith communities without worship spaces after LA fires
Briefly

The destruction of Masjid Al-Taqwa in Altadena by the Eaton fire has left its members worshipping in disarray during Ramadan, completing prayers in a community room. The mosque served as an intimate and accessible space for prayer, and its loss is profoundly felt by congregants. With over 14 places of worship affected, the recovery for smaller, family-run mosques like Al-Taqwa is particularly challenging due to limited resources. The transition to temporary worship sites has created a fragmented community and uncertainty about the future of their communal and spiritual needs.
Some have no alternative worship site yet. Others are adjusting to a state of temporary normalcy.
These were places close enough for residents to walk to and have intimate conversations with their Higher Being.
But for smaller, family-run places of worship, recovery is a rockier process.
