Notorious image board 4chan hacked and internal data leaked | TechCrunch
Briefly

4chan experienced a significant cyberattack that left its website down for hours. Reports indicated that hackers had access to 4chan's backend for over a year, leaking sensitive information, including a list of moderators. The breach alarmed users due to 4chan's connections to violent political movements, potentially endangering the identities of its moderators. One janitor confirmed the authenticity of the leaked data, acknowledging that while leaks aren't uncommon, the scale of this breach is unprecedented, highlighting ongoing concerns about user safety and doxxing within the community.
I'm somewhat taken back. 4chan's moderation team has had leaks in the past, but this is obviously an issue of greater magnitude.
But many of us have been doing this for a long time. Doxxing is a longstanding pastime on 4chan, and the possibility that we could be exposed has always been there.
I'd wager that the fact that 4chan was effectively taken over by a hacker(s) is concerning.
